Brake Adaptors – Various
Brake fitting terminology is complex. Given the safety implications you need to make sure you have the correct fitting.
One key area is sealing angle – Option1 (Convex) and Option2 (Concave) may have the same threads but won’t seal!
Other brake fittings allow for sealing via a copper washer, such as banjo bolts.
We get a lot of enquiries where people have modified or customised their car and the new system won’t quite fit – sometimes a relatively low cost brake adaptor is the answer. For the perfectionists, we can make newbrake hose with the correct fittings.
Carlton Comment
When it just won’t fit, instead of a new hose or pipe, consider an adaptor.
As equipment is upgraded or customised, there are occasions where the existing brake lines will no longer connect. A relatively low cost solution is to use brake line adaptors.
Typical Applications
Brake systems have developed over the years with a number of different connection methods.
OP1 (Convex, Bubble Flare) Sealing

OP2 (Concave, Inverted Flare) Sealing

See the following table for common conversions. We also keep some rare threads like 9/16-18 and a range of brake tees, copper washers, banjo bolts, brackets and bleed screws.
